What is Trans woman?
Trans woman is a person who is born male but has a female nature.
Transgender and transsexual are terms that are often confused when they both refer to the LGBT community. Transgender is a broader, more comprehensive category that includes all non-gendered individuals that correspond to the sex they were assigned at birth. Transgender is a narrower category that includes individuals who wish to physically transition to the gender that corresponds to the gender they identify with. (Note that the word “gender” is often used to refer to social and cultural roles, while “gender” refers to physical attributes.)
All Transgenders are Transgenders. However, not all Transgenders are Transgenders. Trans woman is sometimes called trans women. Some may also be referred to as male-to-female transsexuals, MTFs, trans women, transgender women, or tgirls. The term “transsexual” originates from a medical term and is sometimes considered pejorative.
Transgender is different from Transsexual
Although both refer to gender, Transgender and transsexual are terms with separate meanings. The fact that they are often used interchangeably has led to some confusion. Trans woman is a person who is born male but has a female personality. She can dress like a woman, refer to herself as a woman, or use a feminine name. (Note that some male Transgenders may use the term AFAB or be designated female at birth.)
However, not all Transgenders identify with male/female, male/female. Some identify as gender incongruous, regardless of gender, gender, androgynous, or “third gender”. For this reason, it is important never to assume that a Transgender person identifies with a particular gender.
Trans woman is someone who wishes to change the body from male to female. The transition often involves the use of hormones to suppress the physical characteristics of the sexes. Many Trans women in the United States take hormone supplements, which can promote breast growth, change voice pitch, and contribute in other ways to a traditionally more feminine appearance. Some Trans women may even undergo gender confirmation surgery (also known as “gender confirmation surgery”).
