Launched in response to the tsunami disaster of December 2004, the Pacific Partnership has grown over the years, from a focus on direct care to strengthening partnerships through the exchange of expertise and civil-military exchanges with host countries. This is a multilateral mission to prepare for the largest humanitarian aid and disaster relief operation to be carried out in the Indo-Pacific region.
The mission helps participants, including U.S. and Vietnamese military personnel, work together to improve regional coordination and disaster relief, enhance regional security and stability, and cement lasting friendships in the Indo-Pacific.
