In the process of working on Excel spreadsheets, the user accidentally made the size of the Excel spreadsheet file heavier. This affects the processing speed of Excel files, or some servers do not allow you to send files that are too heavy.
In this article, Computer Tips will introduce you to some of the reasons why the size of the Excel file is increased too much and how to handle it.
Too many calculations
For Excel files with many complex calculation formulas, automatically updating the calculation results will make you spend a lot of time waiting.
To disable this feature, on the Formulars (first) => Click item Workbook Calculations (2) and choose Manual (3).
You should note, after selecting this option, the calculated numbers from the formula will not give the correct result until you save the file or press F9.
Too many formats
Along with copying data, it comes with the formats, shapes, styles, and named ranges applied to the original file, and it creates a lot of style overlays on your spreadsheet. Invisibility also increases the size of your Excel file.
To find out if your computer file has too many unnecessary formats, you copy the original file to a new file. Select the entire worksheet in the new Excel file by pressing the key combination Ctrl + A. On card Home (first)you click on the arrow icon next to Clear (2) and choose Clear formats (3). You do the same with the remaining worksheets and then save the file. If the size of the calculated file is significantly reduced, that means your original Excel file needs to be removed from unnecessary formats.
Similarly, copying also causes you to create unnecessary formatting, styles, and named ranges that increase the size of your Excel file.
File is too big for what is needed
To detect this situation, press the key combination Ctrl + End to move to the last cell in the sheet. Here you can see it below and to the right of the other cells, but Excel only saves them until you put something in them.
If the cell you just searched far below the last line or far to the right of the last column also contains content, then your file is containing unnecessary overhead. The solution to this situation is to delete unnecessary rows/columns or you copy the cells with the contents to a new sheet in the same workbook, then delete the old sheet.
Too many Add-ins
Add-ins also slow down Excel files. If you do not use it, you should disable all add-ins in Excel. To disable all Add-ins, do the following:
Step first: Select File => Options.
Step 2: In the window Excel Options you choose Add-ins (first)select Excel Add-ins in the Manage (2) and choose Go… (3).
Step 3: Remove the check mark before all Add-ins and choose OK.
AutoFilter
When users use the Auto Filter filter automatically, it will automatically create a Filter for irrelevant areas by default.
So when you turn on the Filter tool, you should select the area to create the filter and then create the Filter filter.
Above, Computer Tips has gone through a number of reasons that cause your Excel file to increase in size and how to fix it and increase processing speed for Excel files. Good luck!
