Instagram is a social network designed primarily for sharing photos and videos. However, they also put in time limits for video-related features. In this article, Thuthuatphanmem.vn will guide you how to post longer videos on Instagram.
1. Instagram video length
Instagram is increasingly focusing on video to compete with TikTok and Youtube. There are many ways to post a video on Instagram: on profile, story, reels, live stream. However, each form has its own time limit:
- Instagram Live: can last up to 4 hours.
- Story on Instagram: can last up to 15 seconds for 1 story.
- Video as a post: up to 60 minutes.
- Instagram Reels: up to 90 seconds.
For the limitations mentioned above, it can be seen that Live and Regular Video are not too big of a problem. On the other hand, you’ll probably want to pass the time of Story and Reels.
The bad news is that we can’t get a maximum timeout for all of the above features. But there is a trick to help you post longer Stories.
2. How to post longer videos on Instagram Story
Instagram Story has a limit of 15 seconds per clip. If your video is longer, Instagram will automatically cut it into 15-second segments (up to 60 seconds in total). Thus, only the first minute of the video is uploaded to Instagram, the rest is discarded.
So if you have a video longer than 60 seconds, use a third-party app to trim the videos before uploading them. This way, clips that you upload to Story will play seamlessly and smoothly.
2.1 Using Split Video: Long Story Maker on iPhone

Step 4: On the next screen, you will know how many clips your video is cut into. Press Split and Save Clips.
The application will automatically cut the video into 15s clips, then save it to your photo library.
2.2 Story Cutter for Android
