Are you taking photos with your iPhone and not sure how to blur the area around your subject? Read on to learn about blurring the background iPhone and how to use it.

iPhone has become a popular smartphone brand, especially among young people. This is not surprising, as the iPhone offers many advantages over other brands of smartphones.

The first major benefit of using the iPhone is its excellent camera. Many users praised the iPhone for taking high-quality photos, which is one of the reasons why so many people like to use this particular device.

Another reason the iPhone is so popular is the Blur Background iPhone feature. Blur Background for iPhone is a unique and powerful tool that lets you blur the background of your photos. This can be used for professional or personal use, but is especially useful for people who want to post their photos on social media sites like Facebook and Instagram. Blurring the background in a photo can help draw attention to the subject and make it stand out more.

Blur the Background Using Portrait Mode on iPhone

Apple’s Portrait Mode on the iPhone 7, 8 Plus, and all iPhone X and iPhone 11 models is a great technique for blurring the background of your photos. If you shoot in portrait mode, your iPhone will automatically detect the subject in the photo and make sure it’s sharp and sharp. This works best with people or pets, but you can also use it to blur unwanted objects in the background.

You can use this mode in 3 different ways. These include:

Blur the background using portrait mode:

Portrait mode is one of the standout features of Apple’s latest iPhones, but it’s also one of the most misunderstood. Many iPhone users think Portrait Mode just blurs the background of a photo, but it does more than that. Apple’s software actually uses two different techniques to create the portrait effect: it can change the focus of your shot or apply a blur effect.

use it:

step 1: On your iPhone, launch the Camera app.

Step 2: Swipe up from the camera shutter, then tap [Portrait] options.

Step 3: An additional menu with various portrait lighting options will appear.choose from [studio light, Contour light]and other options.

Step 4: Point your phone at the subject and follow the on-screen instructions. For example, you may be prompted to be closer or further away from the subject.

closer or further from your subject

Step 5: Once portrait mode has determined that your phone is positioned properly, the illuminated banner will turn yellow.

Step 6: Click the shutter release button.

Modify the background when taking a photo

step 1: Frame and resize the photo in portrait mode, then follow the on-screen instructions until the yellow light appears.

Step 2: Click the f-stop button (followed by a number) in the upper right corner. Touch this button to open the depth of field slider.

f stop button

Step 3† Slide the measurement line that appears above the camera shutter to the right. This will increase the blur, while going to the left will decrease it.

add blur,

Step 4: When you are satisfied with the effect, press the shutter button.

Modify the background blur after taking a photo

step 1: Take portrait photos with any compatible iPhone model.

Step 2: click [Edit] button in the Photos app.

Step 3: In the editing screen, the depth control slider will appear next to your photo.

Step 4: Move the slider to get the desired blur effect.

Step 5: click [Done] button.

The lighting effects for each portrait mode mean:

Portrait mode makes the iPhone stand out from the crowd. It allows you to take sharp photos with bokeh effect. Lighting automatically adjusts to the background. So what does each lighting effect mean?

Here are some of the most common portrait mode lighting effects and what they mean:

  • Natural light: This is the default option and it will automatically adjust to the natural light around you. You can also use this option to take pictures of yourself or others.
  • Stage lights: This mode uses artificial lighting to create a spotlight effect and is great for taking pictures in low light conditions. It’s also useful if you want to capture objects with reflective surfaces or bright colors that would otherwise appear dull or washed out in natural light conditions.
  • Studio Lights: This mode creates artificial studio lighting effects, so it’s best used when you want to create dramatic effects such as soft shadows and highlights on your subject’s face or body parts, such as lips.
  • Contour Lights: This is the most common lens flare effect on iPhone. It’s called “rim light” because it enhances the contrast between light and dark areas in a photo. The rim light effect adds a halo to highlights in a photo and increases the contrast of shadows, making them appear darker than they really are.
  • High Dimming Mono: The High-Key Light Mono effect is similar to Contour Light, but instead of adding contrast to shadows, it brightens them so they aren’t as dark as in real life. This makes your images look like they were taken in bright sunlight on a cloudy day or using flash photography.

Closer to the blurred background on the iPhone

To blur the background without using Portrait Mode on the iPhone, you need to get close to the subject. The closer the distance, the blurrier the background. However, you have to know that the method is not as simple as portrait mode, but if anything, it works fine on older iPhones.

this way:

step 1: The first thing to do is get closer to your subject. If your phone has a zoom lens, use it. Otherwise, get close to whatever you want to follow.

Blur background, don't use portrait mode

Step 2: Next, tap the shutter button and let the camera focus on them. The camera will automatically try to focus on the position closest to the middle of the screen.

Step 3: Now tap and hold the shutter button until a yellow box appears around the subject. This tells you that they are focused and will stay focused while you are shooting.

Blur the background on the iPhone using a third-party app

Blurring photo backgrounds is one of the most common edits you see on Instagram and other social platforms. But what if you want to blur the background without using normal portrait mode?

You can use third party applications such as Photoshop Express or blur photo background Blur the background of your iPhone photos in just a few easy steps. For this guide, we’ll be using Photoshop Express.
